The Edible Campus Garden is the fruit of a solid partnership between Alternatives and Santropol Roulant. First located on the rooftop of the drama arts conservatory, in 2007, this garden was then rooted right at the heart of McGill University's campus, by the yard at 805 Sherbrooke west.
This garden is the heart of the rooftop gardens project. It's a place of promotion, experimentation and public activities. It's a space which can be accessed very easily and is visited very frequently After pushing forward alongside Alternatives for four years, Santropol Roulant undertook in 2008 taking charge and maintaining the garden almost fully. The Low Cost Housing Group students find a place of exploration to put in practice concepts which are otherwise theoretic.
Partners in this project are :
Alternatives, Rooftop Gardens project
Santropol Roulant
McGill University Low Cost Housing Group
This productive partnership generated numerous initiatives and the Edible Campus won the National Urban Design Award 2008 !
