Through a series of practical, critical and creative educational activities, it allows students in the three cycles of primary school to discover and reflect upon what is at stake in urban agriculture. Beautifully illustrated, this guide will take you from the fridge to the garden, from local action to global thinking.

A new garden at UQAM
A new garden was created by students in Environmental Sciences at UQAM. Activities organised at this entirely self-managed garden will allow students to explore urban gardening and social involvement. The garden's produce will go to the red roof church for distribution to the homeless.

Cuban permaculture workshop
Oliveris is a cuban intern at Alternatives and he is going to give us a very interesting workshop about urban agriculture in Cuba. He’s going to talk about composting, alterning cultures, using bees and a lot more about the garden he works in, in the hart of his living town :Sancti Spiritu.

After much experimentation, the Rooftop Garden Project adopted self watering containers. Thanks to their 14 liter water reserves, our "ready to grow kits" optimize the growing potential of vegetable plants by providing a constant supply of water and oxygen.
Our bins measure 37" x 58" x 40".
This technique has many advantages for the urban gardeners:
* Recovery of household compost
* Up to 4 days of water autonomy
* Easy to move and to adapt
