When and Where: Tuesday, June 21, 5:30-8pm, in the Rooftop Garden @ 4750 Henri Julien
The Rooftop Garden Project cordially invites you to our Second Annual Garden Party! This year we are opening the garden in style, donning our best whites and wide brimmed hats to launch the growing season for Montreal's only soil-less rooftop garden. Enjoy great conversation with a diverse constituency of garden supporters, innovators, volunteers and partners. Sample gourmet food and drinks from Santropol Roulant's meals-on-wheels kitchen.
The Evening Unfolds: Eat, drink and explore. After short presentations from the project team and generous supporters, explore the garden, enjoy the photo exhibition, and dig deeper into the evolution of Montreal's urban landscape.
The Rooftop Garden Project is an innovative partnership between international development organisation, Alternatives and local community organization, Santropol Roulant. We seek to make widespread rooftop gardening and food provision a reality in Montreal and around the world. Our novel gardening methods empower local residents to green their neighbourhoods and improve their health while liberating previously un-used urban spaces such as Montreal's rooftops.
Our demonstration garden is in the heart of the Plateau Mont Royal. Santropol Roulant and Alternatives volunteers work together applying new hands-on solutions that link local food production with food security, nutrition, and environmental health - while providing Santropol Roulant's meals on wheels service with delicious fresh produce in the summer!
The Rooftop Garden Project would like to thank our supporters and partners: the Public Health Agency of Canada, les Fonds d'action Quebecois pour le developpement durable, Environment Canada, the City of Montreal, the EJLB Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, Foundation of Greater Montreal, the International Development Research Centre, and the University of Quebec.
