Rooftop Gardens Paper Wins Prize!

"Cultivating Connections: The Urban Agriculture Movement" won the 2007 Undergraduate Paper Prize from the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society!

Last year I wrote the paper to explore the political implications of cultivating food and connections in Montreal. It's an attempt at expressing my thoughts on urban agriculture and why I travelled all the way from Victoria to Montreal to work with the Rooftop Gardens Project this summer.

A few weeks ago I went back to Victoria to present the paper at the Cultivating Appetites for Knowledge International Food Conference. I had the chance to present the paper and the Rooftop Gardens Project to visiting scholars and activists from all over the world. It was great to see how excited everyone is about rooftop gardens and to hear what they're doing in their own communities.
